05 Apr GREY HAIR: WHAT’S REAL, WHAT’S FAKE AND HOW TO PREVENT IT
According to the 50-50-50 rule, 50% of the population has 50% of grey hair by the age of 50. Dermatologists swear by this fundamental rule concerning grey hair.
Still, it’s an exception among the multitude of myths and legends on grey hair. These stories contribute to the sense of anxiety we all feel upon discovering we have grey hair, although they’re not all real!
Let’s debunk some of these fake news:
The appearance of grey hair is connected to ageing
Partly true/partly false.
Grey hair is caused by a lack of melanin, the pigment providing colour to hair. Although it is true that as years pass everybody’s hair turns grey, that can happen sooner to some people.
The appearance of grey hair is connected to stress
Our lifestyle affects greatly the condition of our hair: a healthy diet has positive effects on hair and scalp.
On the other hand, it is no surprise that smoking is an extremely dangerous habit that can cause the loss of hair and hair’s natural pigmentation.
And then, the most infamous one: plucking out a grey hair will make three more grow in its place.
Multiple grey hair growing in the same follicle is a fake myth.
That being said, plucking out hair, be them grey or our natural colour, is a bad habit that should be stopped, because the risk is to damage the roots.
«Hair positivity» is on the rise, and a number of regular women have been inspired by celebrities to boycott hair dyeing – first among many, Meghan Markle, who was photographed a few months ago sporting a grey hair. But an upcoming solution might be the perfect compromise that everybody could agree on.
GH-REVERSE, combining prevention and treatment, is a new product by Elgon laboratories. The line includes two cutting-edge, innovative products that can delay the appearance of grey hair, acting before the hair completely loses the melanin within the follicle.
The innovative formula contains active ingredients that can help in the battle against grey hair: GREYREVERSE™, which can stimulate melanin production and reduce oxidative stress in the hair bulb, increasing hair repigmentation; Redoxina 2.0, the biotech hyaluronic acid and vegetable keratin based complex, to make your hair stronger, younger and healthier; Panthenol, which guarantees hydration and long-lasting protection to the hair.
Seeing is believing!
